Here we are just a day away from a date that anyone over the age of 35 can most likely remember with great accuracy. For me, it was just a normal day at work until someone said that the World Trade Center in NY had been struck by a plane. We had a television in the next room so I walked over to see what the fuss was all about. I stood there, mesmerized and as I was watching - a second plane suddenly came into the picture and struck the other tower!
It was a terrible day for America as terrorists had made their way onto commercial airplanes and used them as bombs to strike fear into Americans. By days end, thousands of innocent American lives had been taken and the sign of evil was alive and well.
We had a front-row seat to see just how evil humans can be when they choose to kill and harm innocent people. We sat in front of our televisions and watched as people jumped from the top of the towers - choosing death by suicide over death by fire. Others were likely killed instantly when those two towers fell and crumbled like a child crumbles a graham cracker.
I honestly don't know what God was trying to tell us on that awful day 20 years ago? But I do know this. America became stronger and better because of the indispicable actions of hate. Never before did I see so many people heading to church's to pray and to worship together!
I saw something much like it begin to happen at the start of this pandemic as well. People were on their knees bowing to God and praying to God and asking for safety and for answers. People were starting to see God in a whole new way.
Unfortunately, on both occassions it didn't take long for America to go back to "normal" and we moved on and went back to living life as usual. God is always there for us but so many only become motivated to seek Him when life is full of uncertainty or chaos has taken over. Our only hope is truly in God. He is our refuge, not just when things are spinning out of control, but when life is good as well.
Where do you turn when life is upside down and you are afraid and living in fear? Put your entire life in God's hands and walk with him each and every day of your life. We are told in Hebrews 12:28 that "We are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken."
I hope that you are putting your trust in God and in His kingdom because it cannot be shaken!
